Gareth at work

Gareth Pearson is an acoustic guitar player and composer from Cwmbran, South Wales in the UK. Gareth has toured with Tommy Emmanuel, Jan Akkerman, played at the Chet Atkins Appreciation Society Convention in Nashville and was personally invited to open for Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes at their New Year Party in New York. He has also opened for Ray Davies, founder member of the legendary 60's band The Kinks, John Renbourn, Woody Mann and others.

Gareth’s influences are wide, ranging from guitarists such as Tommy Emmanuel, Chet Atkins, Merle Travis, Jerry Reed and others but his own distinctive voice is clearly audible in his own compositions, some of which appear on his new release Adrenaline Rush which is available to order online or at his concerts. In performance, his “Exuberance of Youth” as one fellow musician put it, is clearly evident.

25th December Newletter
Okay, so I don't know about you, but this year has certainly flown by for me. I've been playing in various folk festivals, and been playing with some of the best acoustic guitar players in the World like, Jan Akkerman, John Renbourn, John Goldie, Bob Evans, Clive (Merry Christmas) Carroll and Tony Enamel (the greatest sitar player from Austria). But I've mainly been playing my own solo concerts which have been a great learning curve for me.

Like many musicians, it's my dream to travel the world and play music for people, and I got to do so in Canada, Finland, Holland and Ireland. And to show my maturity, I've developed a taste for red wine which I tend to have a glass, I repeat, one glass after every show!

Next years looking pretty darn good too! I'll be supporting Mr Andy (most successful guitar player on YouTube) McKee on his UK tour. I didn't get to catch Andy's shows while he was over here in November/December but I heard through the grapevine that he's got a couple of nice licks, and I'm planning on stealing both of them'!!!

I'll also be joining Jan Akkerman and John Renbourn again on a few occasions, so that shall be great also. Keep an eye on the upcoming concerts page on the website. While I'm at it, thanks go to Simon for doing a great job on the website.

Well, I thought I would end this year's news letter sending out my thoughts to Stephen Bennett and Tommy Emmanuel. These guys have been a huge influence on me and I hope they get well soon!!!

Love "ya" all and have yourself a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
